is that picture really necessary?

Anonymous, I'm sorry if the picture offends you. It certainly isn't my intention. What would you like to see replace it? I'm open to suggestions.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.

i'm sorry, i didn't mean to sound snippy. my problem with the picture is that it is a) potentially triggering and b) kind of sensationalist.

the sensationalism criticism is more of an aesthetic thing, but i'll explain a little more about the triggering aspect. i am not someone who is usually super anti-triggering things, because, well, real life is triggering sometimes, and that has to be dealt with. but because this is on a page offering hotlines and resources, though, i think it's unnecessary and potentially damaging.

i don't have any suggestions for replacements but thank you for taking the time to listen, and thank you for maintaining this site!

You're very welcome and thank you. I really appreciate your input and can see your point. I hadn't thought about the possibility of it being triggering, I had only thought to relate the picture to the subject without getting graphic.
I have replaced it and hope this picture is a more positive image.
Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
